Pool area update

The pool goes on.... and on, and on. One day it will get finished. We like to reffer to that day as 'the future'. Anyway, there are a few developments since the last pictures. The pavers are down, the walls and roof are on the hut, some of the rendering of the walls are complete. We also have plants all in .... so all in all its taking shape. With a bit of luck the electrics will get done this week and we can see what it looks like lit up at night..... just in time for chrimbo. As you can see in the pictures, the boys have taken to sailing ships on the pool. Daddy has added to Santa claus' list, a WWII replica radio controlled sub to 'help' play with the boys! They want one honest.

Animal antics

Well its been a busy old week this. We started off last Tuesday with the Melbourne Cup. Jinxy lived up to his name again as we failed to back a single winner (mind you, I seem to repeat this habit regardless of who happens to be at the races). None the less, Darren still gets the blame. We splashed out on good seats this time and while a considerable time was still spent at the bar or the bookies, at least when the race was on we could actually see some horses rather than 40 odd womens hats blocking the course! Darren's head managed to collect most of the sun's rays that day though - resulting in a nice blistered noggin for the remainder of his trip! Oh how we laughed. Next we covered off Melbourne Zoo where some little 'oik spoiled the day by helping himself to the cars sat nav..... via the window. Told you it was the land of the criminals ! Old habits die hard clearly. A few days later and we were off to Ballarat for the obligatory 'feed the Kangaroos & hold the Koalas.... Oh, and then more animal antics as Darren, Maxine & the kids went to Mt. Dandenong which is a few Kms from our place to take in the views over Melbourne and to feed the wild exotic birds. Uncle Darren has now departed, having taken in most of Australia's wildlife and lots of its beers.

Witness

See, this is what happens when you make friends with the local Amish community. One minute you're inviting them over for a barbie, you turn your back for a few seconds and out come the tools. Before you know it you've got a barn sitting in your back garden ! That bloody Harrison Ford has got a lot to answer for.

As you'll be able to tell from the pics here, things are starting to move a bit quicker ... the large Yucca's are in and they look pretty good, should look great at night when they're lit up and the job's done. The pool hut seems pretty big at this stage but when the outdoor kitchen is in and the furniture is in, it will look a lot less like a warehouse!

Aussie Bloodbath

Well, Jinxy and I went to the Australia vs England rugby league world cup last night and as per my prediction ..... we were murdered (52 - 4). After 7 minutes into the game the slide into the worst EVER England defeat in rugby league world cup history unfolded before our very eyes. Now I'm not exactly the world's biggest rugby league fan in the world, it has to be said .... but it was England playing Australia at something. Even the Aus vs England tiddlywinks championships would get a decent crowd - but once again, humiliation at the hands of the Aussies took place. Memories of the Ashes at the MCG on Boxing Day came flooding back. I'm looking forward to holding citizenship in 2009. Maybe then I can switch my allegences and support a team that wins !!! At least Darren saw some history in the making. For all the wrong reasons. I bet the country from St.Helens to Leeds is hanging its head in shame!
