The BIG dig!!

On a somewhat larger scale than the last post on here, we've now started the back garden renovation after about 27 designs and lots of cost reviews ! The swimming pool is now ordered and gets installed in late July and the landscaping has started.... Once we had a nice green back garden, now we have a rather large chunk taken out of it. Needless to say, the kids now think its great and spend more time playing in the mud than the climbing frames, swings & slides put together. I think we should just leave it as it is, the kids seem happy anyway! Here's the before & after shots from the first few days. Watch this space for sipping cocktails by the pool !! (in a few months time that is ;-)

The Good Life

Just like Tom & Barbara from the 1970s sitcom, I've developed a strange desire to plant things in the back garden that you can eat (no not magic mushrooms). Yes, I've now spend several back breaking hours not only planting Satsuma, Lemon and Grapefruit trees but also building a huge planter box for a veggie patch. I'm now contemplating lime & apple tress this next weekend.... Whats happening to me ? I'm turning into a latter day Percy Thrower. Maybe I can feel retirement knocking on the door....little does he know that I've got several hundred more years to pay the mortgage off. Anyway - whatever's happening - for those few misguided souls who may be interested in my plants - here are some pictures ! Maxine will be laughing on the other side of her face when my lettuces come up I can tell you.....

P.S. Thanks to Mam & Dad for providing the very dangerous power tools for my birthday so that I could construct my new found vegetable habit.

Party Court

Last weekend our street turned into partyville for the kids as our neighbours (Ethan & Aiden belive it or not - honest)... had their 4th and 7th birthdays respectively. Aiden's party was a sports theme - and as you'll see from the pictures, our kids dressed in both national & regional colours. They had great fun running around doing all sorts of games etc. Then, in the afternoon they were off to be entertained by a 'jester' followed by party games & food at Ethan's house. So after 4 hours of 'hard partying' - they returned somewhat tired. See the pictures here !
