We spent the last day in Singapore taking tea at one of the cities famous institutions -
Raffles hotel. The hotel is old colonial Britain at its best - its like stepping back in time to when Britain ruled the waves and were the global power ... that was before the Yanks took over that role. Ethan & Aidan had a great time rolling around and playing with their cars on the very expensive looking rugs. We picked a good time to go (Monday morning) as the hotel was very quiet and apart from a rich looking bunch of Europeans finishing breakfast, the kids had the run of the place. The hotel was built in 1887 and hardly looks like its changed - must be a great place to stay (if a bit pricey). Very interesting to take a look around the place though.
Later in the day we covered off another thing Singapore is famous for... shopping. We battled the humidity to walk up part of Orchard Road and hit some of the shopping centres. Its very modern and pretty much like any other major cities shopping centres but just a lot more of them! All the European shops are there (even Marks & Spencers!) so it felt very much like home, but with better prices.
After that it was back to the hotel for a play in the pool with the kids and then off for dinner before heading to Changi airport and off to blighty.
